Jiuguang Center is a commercial complex project located in Daning Business District, Jing’an District, Shanghai, integrating office, retail, and catering. It is developed by Lifu China and jointly designed by UNstudio and Nihon Sekkei. The total construction area of the project is 350000 square meters, including 80000 square meters of twin towers, 180000 square meters of commercial space, and 1648 parking spaces. While enjoying the high-end quality of Jiuguang Department Store, it also offers one-stop office, shopping, and leisure services.

DESIGN

Jiuguang Center is the second shopping center built by Lifu China in Shanghai after Jing’an Temple Jiuguang. It forms a twin linkage pattern with Jing’an Jiuguang Department Store, leading urban renewal, promoting consumption change, and creating a new round of Shanghai’s “shopping memory”. The project officially opened on November 27, 2021.

The overall design concept of the project is inspired by the meandering stream in the valley, interpreting the urban leisure concept of “strolling in the valley”, creating multiple three-dimensional flow lines and rich visual effects in space, creating the peak of commercial beauty in North Shanghai, and forming a strong and powerful “urban open living room” in the Daning commercial district. The peripheral buildings of the project, such as the towering “mountain ranges” around the “valley”, form an architectural image open to the urban public space with a staggered and orderly folding shape; The interior of the building is composed of multiple geometric blocks that are interspersed and assembled to form a semi enclosed, hollow atrium form. The outer atrium surrounds the staircase and rooftop garden in a 360 ° manner to create an ecological atmosphere of a “valley”, allowing business and office personnel to obtain and enjoy a purer sense of belonging and unique consumption experience within the project.

The twin office tower is located on the north side of the project, a 5A grade office building and a landmark building in the Jing’an Daning area. The facade of the building, like the rhythm of a vertical stream, becomes a continuation and exchange of urban space and design concepts in the “commercial valley”. Entering the shared lobby space of the twin towers, with a spacious entrance and the only 10 meter high and magnificent lobby in Shanghai, makes every office experience feel like a triumphant journey.

The twin tower office building is a 23 story high-rise building, and each building is equipped with 10 high and low partition elevators according to the ultra-high standard, making the operation of office and business people more efficient and calm. The lobby of the office building can directly lead to the central shopping mall, achieving convenient sharing of surrounding facilities, fully reflecting the status of the core business district of North Shanghai.
