The Shanghai Bank of China Tower (formerly known as the Shanghai International Finance Tower) is located on plot 1-7-3 of the Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone in Pudong. The building was designed by Nekken Sekkei Limited in Japan, with a total height of 258 meters, 3 underground floors, and 53 above ground floors. The total investment of the project is 230 million US dollars. It is a super high-rise Grade A intelligent office building integrating finance, office, catering, and leisure, mainly invested and built by Bank of China Shanghai Trust and Investment Company, Bank of China Group Investment Co., Ltd., and other companies.

The architectural design of the Bank of China Tower in Shanghai is innovative, abstracted from ancient coins (cloth coins), symbolizing the history and future of Chinese finance. The architectural form of the round sky and square earth, with vertical upward building lines, shapes a crystal tower that is crystal clear. The bowl shaped design of the roof seems to symbolize another treasure trove. The Bank of China Tower was one of the earliest to use the design technique of internal light and external light transmission in the Shanghai area. The curtain box is equipped with fluorescent light strips on the outside and curtains on the inside. At night, the external light transmission through the fluorescent light strips creates a beautiful internal light and external light transmission, fully showcasing the shape and outline of the building and enriching the city’s nighttime scenery. Due to the requirements of the building facade, the building plan gradually transforms from a square to a spindle shape starting from the 23rd floor. The design fully utilizes the stiffness and stability of the central concrete cylinder, and abandons the traditional giant truss support in the transfer layer design. Instead, it adopts a diagonal column frame structure that is closely related to the architectural design and has smooth stress distribution, saving construction costs and improving construction efficiency.
